Old Testament
Moses
Prophet and lawgiver
The prophet who led Israel out of slavery in Egypt and received the Law at Sinai.
Born a Hebrew during Israel's bondage in Egypt, Moses was raised in Pharaoh's own household. After fleeing to the wilderness, he was called by God from a burning bush to go back and set his people free.
Through the plagues and the parting of the Red Sea, Moses led Israel out of Egypt. At Mount Sinai he received the Ten Commandments and the Law, and he guided the people through forty years in the wilderness, though he did not enter the Promised Land himself.
“The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”Exodus 14:14
